Peachtree Corners has no police department of its own. If you were hurt in a crash here, Gwinnett County Police most likely worked the scene, and any lawsuit may well be filed in Gwinnett's courts in Lawrenceville. As a Peachtree Corners personal injury lawyer, Gary Huggins handles those claims from the Perimeter Center office of Huggins Accident Injury Lawyer, an easy drive down Peachtree Industrial Boulevard and I-285.
Whether you need a car accident lawyer in Peachtree Corners after a wreck on Peachtree Parkway or help with a more serious injury, Gary will meet you where it's easiest: at home, at the hospital or on a video call.
What's different about a Peachtree Corners injury claim?
- County police, not city police. Gwinnett County Police investigate crashes in Peachtree Corners, so that's where your report comes from.
- Gwinnett courts. Lawsuits often go to the State Court or Superior Court of Gwinnett County, which sit in the Gwinnett Justice and Administration Center on Langley Drive in Lawrenceville. Venue still depends on who is being sued.
- Government vehicles have their own deadlines. A claim involving a Gwinnett County vehicle needs written notice within 12 months (O.C.G.A. § 36-11-1). For a city vehicle, notice is due within 6 months (O.C.G.A. § 36-33-5).
- The river is a county line. Holcomb Bridge Road and Peachtree Parkway both cross the Chattahoochee River into Fulton County. A crash on the far side is a Roswell or Johns Creek crash, with a different police department and possibly a Fulton County court.
The roads where Peachtree Corners crashes happen
Peachtree Parkway (SR-141) is the city's commercial spine. It runs past The Forum and Town Center, then crosses the river into Johns Creek as Medlock Bridge Road. Shopping-center entrances and heavy turning traffic there lead to rear-end and left-turn crashes.
Peachtree Industrial Boulevard is the commuter route, running south toward Doraville, Chamblee and I-285 and north toward Duluth. It's wide and fast, and turning across it takes care.
Holcomb Bridge Road links Peachtree Corners west to Roswell and GA-400 and east to Norcross. Spalding Drive and Jones Mill Road feed neighborhood and office traffic into all three.

Technology Park and Curiosity Lab
Technology Park is home to Curiosity Lab, a smart-city and autonomous-vehicle test track. If a crash involves a test vehicle or a car using automated driving features, more than one company may share responsibility, and Georgia juries can divide fault among everyone who contributed, even parties not named in the lawsuit.
These vehicles also record data that can show what happened. Gary asks early for that data to be preserved, before it's overwritten or lost.
Hurt while driving for work around Technology Park? Workers' comp is generally the only claim you have against your own employer (O.C.G.A. § 34-9-11), but the at-fault driver may still be held responsible.
Where Peachtree Corners crash victims are treated
Depending on where the crash happened and how badly you were hurt, you may be taken to:
- Northside Hospital Duluth, a short drive northeast
- Emory Johns Creek Hospital, across the river
- Wellstar North Fulton Hospital in Roswell, a Level II trauma center
- Northside Hospital Gwinnett in Lawrenceville, also a Level II trauma center
- Grady Memorial Hospital downtown, a Level I trauma center, for the most severe injuries
Wherever you're admitted, Gary can come to your bedside. Keep the discharge papers and every bill; he'll need them.
Getting your Gwinnett County Police crash report
Ask the officer for the report number before leaving the scene. Many metro agencies upload reports to BuyCrash.com within several days (expect a small fee). Not there? Contact the Gwinnett County Police records unit with the date, location and report number. If the other driver left the scene, say so right away; hit-and-run UM claims have reporting requirements. Our walkthrough on getting a crash report anywhere in metro Atlanta covers the details.
Read it carefully. The officer's fault opinion usually can't be used at trial, but a wrong insurer, a missing witness or a mistaken diagram should be fixed early.
Call (240) 421-5511 and Gary will request the Gwinnett County Police report for you.
Georgia rules that apply in Gwinnett, too
Georgia law doesn't change at the county line. The filing deadline is the same two years for most injuries (O.C.G.A. § 9-3-33); for a death, the two years run from the date the person died. Fault is shared on a sliding scale: a jury that puts you at 50% or more bars your claim, and anything less trims your award by your percentage (O.C.G.A. § 51-12-33).
The at-fault driver's liability insurance pays for your injuries. Georgia's minimum is 25/50/25, so the policy may be as small as $25,000 for your injuries. If that falls short, your own uninsured/underinsured motorist coverage may help. The default in Georgia is added-on UM, which pays beyond whatever the at-fault driver's policy covers; reduced-by coverage applies only if the policyholder chose it in writing.
Two newer rules come from SB 68, Georgia's 2025 tort-reform law, and both apply to cases already pending. Not wearing a seat belt can now be raised as evidence, though it doesn't end a claim on its own, so tell Gary up front. And if your case goes to trial in Lawrenceville, either side can ask to split it into a liability phase and a damages phase, with limited exceptions.

Questions people ask about Peachtree Corners personal injury claims
Does Peachtree Corners have its own police department?
No. Gwinnett County Police respond to and investigate crashes in Peachtree Corners, so your crash report comes from the Gwinnett County Police Department. You can request it from their records unit or look for it on BuyCrash.com. If the crash happened across the Chattahoochee on Holcomb Bridge Road or Medlock Bridge Road, a Fulton County city's police department may have handled it instead.
Where would a Peachtree Corners injury lawsuit be filed?
Often in the State Court of Gwinnett County, at the Gwinnett Justice and Administration Center in Lawrenceville. But the right court depends on who is being sued. If the at-fault driver lives in DeKalb, Fulton or Cobb County, the case may be filed there instead. Gary works out the proper court early, because a filing in the wrong place can cost time.
What if a self-driving or test vehicle hit me in Peachtree Corners?
You may have a claim against more than one party: the person behind the wheel, if there was one, and the company operating or testing the vehicle. These cases often turn on the data the vehicle recorded, so it should be preserved quickly. Georgia's usual rules still apply, including the two-year deadline for most injury claims and the 50% comparative fault rule.
Can I still recover if I wasn't wearing a seat belt?
Possibly. Under SB 68, signed April 21, 2025, a defendant can offer evidence that you weren't buckled up, including in cases that were already pending, and a jury may weigh it when deciding fault and causation. A judge can still exclude it if it's unfairly prejudicial. Not wearing a seat belt also can't be used to cancel your auto insurance or raise your premiums.
What if a Gwinnett County vehicle caused my crash?
A claim against a county starts with written ante litem notice within 12 months of the injury (O.C.G.A. § 36-11-1). Counties have immunity rules, but for county vehicles Georgia generally waives immunity up to the required insurance amount. If a city or state vehicle was involved instead, different notice deadlines apply, as short as 6 months for a city. Gary handles the notice so it's done correctly.
What compensation can I claim after a Peachtree Corners crash?
You may be entitled to past and future medical bills, lost wages and lost earning capacity, vehicle damage, and pain and suffering. Georgia doesn't cap non-economic damages like pain and suffering in ordinary injury cases. If a drunk or drugged driver caused the crash, punitive damages may be available without the usual $250,000 cap. Every claim is different, and Gary will explain what applies to yours.
